Belated Mothers Day

Welcome back!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I keep putting it off! But I’m here now.

I made this butterfly for my amazing Mum for Mother’s Day (4 weeks ago!). I believe, but don’t quote me on it, that the butterfly is from Typo. I haven’t been able to find another one there and wish I bought more than one because it turned out so pretty and now I want one to look at everyday!

So here is a photo of the butterfly in progress.

WIP Butterfly

I wasn’t happy with it and thought the body of the butterfly needed to be defined more. So here I added more details to the body and made it flow more. This was the final product!

Finished Butterly

Here are the beautiful flowers I bought for Mum as well. We don’t get tulips here and Mum wanted them last time I went shopping. They’re just so cute. They all smelt so good!

Mother’s Day Card

Of course you can’t have a celebration without a card. Here I made a very simple card. It’s actually the second one I made. The first one wasn’t working out but I’m very happy I decided to change the card completely and ended up with the following instead!

I hope you all liked my creations. I will be back to post some more things soon!

She believed she could..

I’ve been wanting to made a feminine soft card all week and finally had the chance!

Tonight I made this card for a dear friend of mine who is going through a rough time at the moment. Everyone needs a bit of encouragement sometimes in life and I believe this is a moment that she needs it. And what better way then a beautiful card!

I designed my card from the latest sketch at Sketch and Stash. I love the idea of this challenge site as they challenge you to use something new or neglected from your stash. I’m sure everyone of us can relate to this and I quite frequently feel sorry for all the little bits and pieces that don’t get used. Quite literately! I can see my mum shaking her head as I always keep the smallest of scrap pieces of paper but I’m getting better and understand when it’s best to let go!

Something that I believe become quite neglected in our stash are our stampin’ write markers. I always struggle to use them but have been enjoying the watercolour technique that they produce. I also believe that this would be the first time in using some of these old in colours as well as the designer series paper!

So here is sketch challenge #136:

Here is my take on the sketch:

Very happy with this card and hope my friend enjoys it as well.

Thanks for visiting today!

Remember to smile as you never know who’s day it will brighten!

Simply vivid vases

Last card for today – I tried to make this one simple to go with the sketch from Case this sketch.
Here is the sketch:

I’m not overly happy with what I produced but I’m putting up the card regardless. I went for a watercolour background to keep the simplicity of the sketch. 20140330-211101.jpg I stamped the image from vivid vases and used the paper piecing technique to bring back some colour to the image. Underneath I stamped the sentiment. I finished off the card by placing a line of diamontees underneath the sentiment.

Many thanks

I’ve been procrastinating quite a but this weekend however it has been in between doses of cleaning, studying and exercising so I’m ok with that. The sketch used to design this card was from Freshly Made Sketches. I decided to use some old designer series paper (International bazaar I believe?) I put my hand on. I combined this with pacific point, whisper white and tangerine tango cardstock to create my version of this sketch.

Here is my card:

I just loved using the pacific point grosgrain ribbon and believe it complimented the card just nicely.

Thanks for stopping by.

Look up

I enjoy starting my cards from a sketch. Once I’ve chosen a sketch I rummage through our many stamp sets to challenge myself with one we’ve never used. Unfortunately there are quite a few that are sitting there prestige but hopefully this will change by the end of the year.

Yesterday I chose to use a stamp set – although it’s not an old one it’s one that hasn’t been used yet! The great thing is I feel as though I’m making my cards early this year – aka I made a Father’s Day card! 6 months early 🙂

The sketch I used is from a site I discovered yesterday called Seize the Sketch

Here is the sketch

And this is my take on the sketch:
20140330-175443.jpg
I used the stampin up Sahara sand colour card with complimentary colours of pear pizazz and chocolate chip.

Using the gorgeous grunge stamp set I stamped in Sahara sand on the background as a watermark with pear pizazz over the top to contrast. I used a piece of chocolate chip coredinations cardstock and the wood grain embossing folder to make a bark like side piece to go with the theme of the tree in the stamp.

I made the sentiment to resemble a sign being hung from a tree.

Hope you like my card! It’s definitely not often that I make a masculine card.

Until next time
Jess

Just thinking

Welcome bloggers!

Today I decided to take a crack at this weeks sketch at retrosketches.

I’ve never created a card with a cut out section like this so it was interesting to design. I chose to use a stamp with a matching stampin up framelit. Obviously this makes the card design flow together easily. Using this years new in-colours finally! Just love opening new packets of cardstock and creating more scraps for the scrap box.

The card sketch looks like this:

And this is how I interpreted the sketch 🙂

I hope you all like my card and visit again soon to see more of my creations from this weekend!

Happy Saturday!!!

Paperbelles Blog Hop – March 2014

Fantastic News Peeps!

This week I have organised a Blog Hop with some members of my team. Stamping Shanni has challenged us all to blog more frequently so part of that is offering some mentoring and incentives to start posting on our blogs and to share some of our amazing creations.

The Blog Hop will run from today until next Wednesday 2 April!

Sometimes Blog Hops have themes but ours is simply to create, share and inspire! Of course we are all Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators but we each have unique and varied styles and the projects that we will share will be vastly different.

Please take a look at the Paper Belles Blog Hop, follow the blog, follow on Pinterest, leave a comment, pin anything that you like and refer friends.
These are this week’s participants:
